The Feeling of a Major 7th Chord
This piece was specifically created for the “Pivot” show in 2024. I was given the opportunity to show in a medium that I did not usually work in, or show my work in. Although, I have drawn most of my life, the only artworks I have sold or shown are sculpture or ceramics.
This piece is a sort of double pivot because the viewer will wonder if I am also a musician. The answer is yes. I play acoustic guitar, some electric guitar, some bass, and I do vocals. I don’t play professionally. These days I play in worship bands at church
Musical chords are intended to generate emotional responses. For instance, a minor chord sounds a bit dark and ominous. Major chords are lighter. Major 7th chords are smooth and jazzy and have a relaxed feel.
