Bridges That Connect Us is currently a wooden maquette for a larger piece. I have submitted this and 2 other maquette to be considered for an outdoor sculpture show in Rhode Island in 2020. If this piece is selected it will be created on a scale of 8 feet in every dimension. The materials will be cedar and steel. The theme for this show is artwork for the community. Our island has two bridges which we have to cross either to the mainland or to Newport. Islands and bridges are a fact of life in Rhode Island and bridges make a nice metaphor for human connection. Art also connects people in ways that other aspects of life don’t. Art can actually be a bridge for connecting people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
